His remarks came during high-level discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation and addressing shared regional challenges.

The Prime Minister emphasised that India and Ethiopia share a long history of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation, which forms a strong foundation for deeper engagement in political, economic, and security-related areas.

Focus on Regional Peace and Stability:

PM Modi said India and Ethiopia have a common vision when it comes to promoting peace and stability in their respective regions. He highlighted Ethiopia’s key role in Africa and India’s commitment to supporting peace initiatives through dialogue, capacity-building, and development partnerships.

According to the Prime Minister, cooperation between the two nations can contribute meaningfully to conflict resolution efforts and regional stability, particularly in areas affected by geopolitical tensions and security challenges.

Strengthening Security Cooperation:

India, he said, remains ready to work closely with Ethiopia to build institutional capacity and support efforts aimed at ensuring long-term security and resilience in the region.

Boosting Connectivity and Economic Links:

Connectivity and economic cooperation featured prominently in PM Modi’s remarks. He highlighted the need to improve trade routes, infrastructure development, and people-to-people ties to unlock the full potential of the India–Ethiopia partnership.

The Prime Minister said improved connectivity would not only strengthen bilateral trade but also contribute to broader regional integration, benefiting neighbouring countries and supporting economic growth.

Expanding Development Partnership:

PM Modi reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting Ethiopia’s development priorities through technology sharing, education, healthcare, and skill development initiatives. He pointed to India’s development partnership model, which focuses on local capacity-building and sustainable growth.

Ethiopia has been a key partner in India’s engagement with Africa, with cooperation spanning agriculture, pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, and digital services.

Shared Vision for the Global South:

Highlighting the broader global context, PM Modi said India and Ethiopia share a common voice on issues affecting the Global South. He stressed the importance of inclusive growth, multilateral cooperation, and reforms in global institutions to better reflect the aspirations of developing nations.

The Prime Minister said stronger India–Ethiopia ties would contribute to a more balanced and representative global order.

Looking Ahead:

Both sides expressed optimism about the future of bilateral relations and agreed to deepen engagement across multiple sectors. PM Modi said India remains committed to working with Ethiopia as a trusted partner in promoting peace, security, and connectivity in the region.

With growing strategic and economic cooperation, the India–Ethiopia partnership is expected to play a more significant role in shaping regional stability and development in the years to come.
