Narendra Modi Becomes First World Leader to Reach 100 Million Followers on Instagram

Prime Minister Modi, who joined Instagram in 2014, now has more than double the number of followers compared to US President Donald Trump on the platform. In fact, his individual follower count surpasses the combined total of the next five prominent world leaders.

US President Donald Trump has 43.2 million followers on Instagram, while Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto follows with 15 million. Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has 14.4 million followers, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has 11.6 million, and Argentine President Javier Milei has 6.4 million followers on the platform.

In India, the Prime Minister remains far ahead of other political leaders on Instagram. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ranks second with around 16.1 million followers, while Rahul Gandhi follows with approximately 12.6 million.

At present, PM Modi is on a two-day official visit to Israel. During the visit, he was honored with the highest distinction of the Knesset – the “Speaker of the Knesset Medal” – by the Israeli Parliament on Wednesday.

The honor was awarded in recognition of his “exceptional contribution through personal leadership” in strengthening strategic ties between India and Israel. The medal was presented following his address to the Israeli Parliament.

After delivering his speech, PM Modi engaged with members of the Knesset and received a standing ovation from lawmakers. In his address, he noted that people in India hold deep admiration for Israel’s determination, resilience, and achievements.
