Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday assured the people of Kerala that if the Bharatiya Janata Party forms the government in the state, the Sabarimala gold loss will be thoroughly investigated and those responsible will be sent to jail.
Calling it “Modi’s guarantee,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the remarks on Friday in Thiruvananthapuram, where he inaugurated several development projects and flagged off new train services in Kerala.
Addressing the gathering, Modi said that people across the country hold deep faith in Lord Ayyappa but alleged that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government had repeatedly undermined the traditions of the Sabarimala Temple. Referring to reports of gold theft from the temple, he said the allegations were deeply disturbing, as they involved theft from the sacred premises itself.
“I want to state this clearly-once a Bharatiya Janata Party government is formed here, these allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and those found guilty will be sent to jail,” Modi said, according to ANI.
His comments come amid growing controversy over the Sabarimala gold theft case, which has escalated into a major political issue. The case involves allegations of misappropriation of gold from the door frames of the sanctum and the gold plates adorning the dwarapalaka (guardian idols) of the Sabarimala Temple. The matter is currently being probed by a special investigation team (SIT) of the Kerala Police, following directions from the state High Court.
PM Modi’s message on Kerala’s future
With the Kerala Assembly elections due later this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged voters to back the Bharatiya Janata Party. Targeting both the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF), he accused them of weakening the state’s progress. Modi said that a BJP-led National Democratic Alliance would deliver stable leadership and improved governance in Kerala.
He said the forthcoming elections would determine a new course for Kerala, adding that voters had so far seen only two political fronts-the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF)-both of which, he alleged, had taken turns harming the state. He asserted that there is now a third alternative focused on development and good governance, represented by the BJP-NDA, according to ANI.
