Iran-Israel war updates: Trump proposes peace plan as Iran allows ‘non-hostile’ oil vessels

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that talks with Iran to end the Middle East conflict are currently underway, claiming that Tehran is “eager” to strike a deal.

U.S. President Donald Trump sent a peace proposal to Iran on Tuesday (March 24, 2026), expressing optimism about ending nearly a month-long conflict. Meanwhile, Tehran signalled a possible de-escalation by allowing “non-hostile” oil vessels to pass through the vital Strait of Hormuz.

These tentative diplomatic developments came even as violence continued. An Iranian missile strike injured people in Israel, prompting intensified military actions, with Israel vowing to take control of parts of southern Lebanon.

On the same day, Donald Trump held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the evolving conflict. This marked their first conversation since February 28, when the war began. The conflict has since claimed the lives of at least six Indians in the region and disrupted energy movement through the Strait of Hormuz, triggering global market concerns.

Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif said Islamabad is ready to host negotiations to help end the U.S.-Israel war with Iran, amid growing speculation about Pakistan’s role as a mediator.

At the same time, Iran launched a fresh wave of missile attacks on Israel on Tuesday (March 24, 2026), causing damage and injuries in Tel Aviv, as uncertainty continued over potential peace talks to end the three-week conflict.

Ron Huldai told reporters that a “direct strike” had hit a building in an upscale neighborhood of the city.

The Pentagon is expected to deploy thousands of troops from the elite 82nd Airborne Division to the Middle East, according to sources cited by Reuters. This move adds to a significant military buildup, even as the Trump administration continues to pursue talks with Iran.

Earlier in the day, Israel carried out a series of strikes targeting the southern suburbs of Beirut – marking the first attack on a Hezbollah stronghold in several days.

Israel’s military also stated that it had captured two members of the Iran-backed group in southern Lebanon.
