Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted four major ambitions for India during his visit to the Netherlands. Speaking to the Indian diaspora at an event in The Hague, Modi said India aims to host the Olympics, become a global hub for manufacturing and green energy, and play a leading role in driving global economic growth.
“India’s aspirations are limitless, and our efforts are becoming equally boundless,” he said while showcasing the country’s growth journey.
‘Make in India’
Narendra Modi said India is steadily moving towards becoming a major global manufacturing hub, while the country’s youth are actively contributing to the growth of a modern technology and startup ecosystem.
“India’s youth are making outstanding contributions in sectors such as AI, defense, and space, helping the country become the world’s third-largest start-up ecosystem,” Narendra Modi said.
Highlighting the AI revolution, Modi projected India as an emerging semiconductor manufacturing hub and noted that the country hosted what he described as the “largest and most successful” AI Summit last year.
He added that work is currently in progress on 12 semiconductor plants across India, with production already underway at two facilities. “This means that chips, too, will now be ‘Designed in India’ and ‘Made in India’,” Modi said.
Apart from AI, Narendra Modi also highlighted India’s rapid growth in mobile phone manufacturing over recent years, reaffirming the country’s position as the world’s second-largest mobile phone producer.
“A decade ago, India relied on imported mobile phones. Today, the country has emerged as a symbol of innovation and technological progress,” Narendra Modi said.
