UPSC Recruitment 2026: Who Is Eligible to Apply?

The educational qualifications differ according to the post. UPSC has invited applications from candidates with diverse academic qualifications, including:

  • Engineering graduates are eligible to apply for Aeronautical Officer posts.
  • Law graduates can apply for Legal Officer and Company Prosecutor positions.
  • Medical professionals with the required postgraduate qualifications are eligible for Specialist Grade III posts.
  • Graduates and postgraduates in fields such as archaeology, agriculture, photography, and other related disciplines can apply for various advertised positions.
  • Most posts also require candidates to possess relevant professional experience in addition to the prescribed educational qualifications.

UPSC Recruitment 2026: Age Eligibility Criteria

The upper age limit varies depending on the post and the applicant’s category. For different positions, the maximum age ranges from 30 to 45 years. Candidates belonging to reserved categories and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are eligible for age relaxation in accordance with Government of India rules.

UPSC Recruitment 2026: Pay Scale for Various Posts

Selected candidates will be placed in pay levels under the 7th Central Pay Commission, with salaries ranging from Level 7 to Level 11, depending on the post. In addition to the basic pay, certain medical positions are also eligible for a Non-Practising Allowance (NPA) as per applicable government rules.
